ABOUT US

We are a non-profit 501 (C) 3 organization striving to bring medical care to the impoverished of the world. Founded on a desire to change lives, Medical Missionaries is dedicated to helping the poorest of the poor regardless of race, religion, or political affiliation. Our sphere of influence reaches out across the United States and our borders, touching remote areas throughout the world. We have been serving the poor for over twenty years through collection and donation of goods. Beginning in 1997 our organization traveled to the rural mountain areas of the Dominican Republic. A small group of doctors, nurses, and lay volunteers brought medicines and immunizations to thousands of people who had never before seen a doctor.

Medical Missionaries collects thousands of items from multiple sources. We receive donated goods from the community, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, businesses, churches, other non-profit organizations, and private individuals. We also collect and reuse many items that would otherwise be thrown out. Our storage facility located at Linton Hall in Bristow, Virginia is also our processing facility. Donated to us by the Benedictine sisters who reside there, it houses clothes, medical supplies and equipment, children's items, household items, appliances, school supplies and equipment, books, and other various items. From this location containers are sent worldwide to impoverished areas and to other medical teams working for similar causes.

Since the initial trip the organization has expanded into a network of volunteers that sends medical teams of varying expertise, medicines, and supplies all around the world. Administrations of vaccines to previously unprotected poor populations has provided for the prevention of potentially deadly childhood illnesses for over 1 million children in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. In 1998, our team participated in disaster relief for refugees of Hurricane George. In 2000, a solar powered radio system was installed in many of the villages on the border of Haiti and the Dominican Republic, which has allowed rapid communication for emergency problems. Solar powered electrical units and generators have also been installed bringing valuable electricity with them. We have sent numerous forty-foot containers supplying the communities with both medical and personal amenities. Thousands of children and adults have received necessary surgical procedures.

We now supply medicines and equipment to over fifty affiliated medical teams. To date, we have been able to disperse over $65 million worth of medicines and medical supplies around the world for an out of pocket expense of less than $175,000. Ninety-nine percent of these items were scheduled to be thrown away.  We have also expanded our services to Africa, South and Central America, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Asia.
